GU14 Tigermoths vs Wayfarers A

An absolute corker of a match..

Our lovely Tigermoths played Tier 2 league leaders Wayfarers today, and showed how far they’ve come this season. The whole match went back and forth, Wayfarers (who beat us something silly in the first match this season) were very well organised but found our defence as solid as can be. They were slightly sharper in our D, managed to get several short corners in the first two quarters, but none went in, until just before half time they managed to fumble one in.. No panic as our own team play and organisation got better and better too.

Second half started of much the same, both teams got stronger, we created some half chances and a short but no luck. Near the end of the third quarter the oppo got another short, we cleared but were deemed to have made a stick tackle (howls of protest 😉) so another one, which they did put away on the rebound.

The last quarter once more things went both ends, unfortunate for us they just edged us on shots and scored one good field goal, 3-0.. We then took over and created several chances and parked in their D, but just couldn’t get it in (something to work on 😁). More howls of protest when at the death a blatant foot was not rewarded with a short..

Far more important than the scoreline was the great teamwork on display today. Heads stayed up, the hockey was sharp, communication was great, passes arrived, Absolutely well done girls, really proud of the sterling effort and great hockey on display.
