GU14 Tigermoths vs Blackheath & Elthamians

Good Start to the Year 🥂

After a long trek to the cold wilderness of Blackheath, the Tigermoths played a great game of solid team hockey. Many strong build ups along the wings, lots of entry into the D, several chances. A good oppo GK and some effective accidental defending by Blackheath kept our efforts out for a long time (it appears that creating utter chaos with many bodies in your own D works wonders, the ball will just ricochet away from something or someone!).

Even the 10 odd short corners didn't cross the line, and one near certain goal was only just pipped against the post by the GK's toe..

I was extremely impressed by the girls' attitude - the team work stayed strong throughout, no mistakes, no panic, no lapses, great communication and teamwork from defence through midfield to attack. Perfect distribution to the wings, continuous drag skills to pass oppo defenders, and a legion of chances. Less good for the blood pressure of the coaches but somehow even more rewarding was the brilliant 'that's how it's done' goal that finally came with approx 60 seconds left to play! Build up from the back, over the right wing, pass across the D and goal into the left of the goal.

Player of the match (although the entire team played extremely well) chosen by Blackheath and fully deserved: Edie Rylatt - tireless defending and beautiful up the wing passing 👍
